Margaret A. "Peggy" Spence

Margaret  A. “Peggy” Spence, 85, of Steubenville, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at Bolger Country Club Manor. She was born on October 24, 1939 in Steubenville. She is the daughter of the late Thomas and Anna Mae Houser Buffone. Peggy is also preceded in death by her twin sister Catherine Smith, sister Barbara Jean Burnetta and companion Lou Simpson.

Peggy was a graduate of Steubenville Catholic Central High School class of 1957 of whom she enjoyed spending time with her friends from her graduating class. She also loved taking trips to Las Vegas with family and friends. Peggy was a member of Triumph of the Cross Parish.

Surviving are two sons, Robert (Darla) Spence of Mt. Pleasant and Randy (Tammie) Spence of Wintersville; daughter Sharon (Gary) Matthews of Dellroy, OH; eight grandchildren Kacee (Donald), Kelli (Spencer), Bobby; Jordon (Alyssa) and Brooke (Jarrett); Caitlin, Bekah, Ashlee (Patrick); six great-grandchildren Quinn, Emma, Jax, James, Tatum and Emerson.

Visitation will be held Monday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A funeral liturgy with Mass will follow at 12:30 pm at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Fr. Matthew Gossett will celebrate. Burial will be held in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
