Marie A. Krukowski, 96, of Steubenville passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at the Laurels of Steubenville surrounded by her family. She was born in Natrona, PA, the daughter of the late Michael Hedwig Lapczynski Jagodzinski. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Francis and Edward Jagodzinski; sisters Lucy Jagodzinksi, Florence Anuskiewicz, Irene Kaminski, Loretta Ponsart, Martha Nitowski and Helen Watson.
Marie graduated from Har-Brack High School and was married to Richard Krukowski also of Natrona, who passed away in June, 2004. Together they moved to Steubenville in the early 1950’s. She was a member and founding family of Holy Family Family Catholic Church.
She spent her time as a wife and mother building her home and family. She was an excellent cook and gardener. She enjoyed sewing, photography, and numerous related arts and crafts. She loved to read and wrote well over 100 poems, several of which were published in the newspaper. Later on she took up playing the piano and oil painting. Besides reading books, she also enjoyed working crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her daughter Roberta (Michael) Hawley of Amherst, OH; son Kenneth of Pittsburgh; numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-4 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. Friends are invited to a funeral liturgy with Mass on Monday at 9:30 am at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will take place in Mt. Airy Cemetery.
