Mary McCann Obituary

Mary Lou McCann, 74, of Steubenville died Peacefully in her sleep, after a trying struggle with Lou Gehrig/ALS, Thursday, January 3, 2019, at Lancia Villa Royale. 
She was born October 2, 1944 in Bridgeport, CT. She is the daughter of the late Charles and Virginia Wilk Wiegand. Also preceding her in death is one sister Alice Lillian Wiegand Tamasi. 

Mary was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. She was a graduate of Shawnee East High School class of 1962. Mary went on to earn degrees from Oberlin College and the University of Kansas. She also attended the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and the University of Minnesota. 
Mary was also a member of the Tri-State Community Band, French Horn section, Former band librarian and historian. Past member of the Gem City Brass Ensemble and the American Federation of Musicians, Local 142, Wheeling, WV.

Surviving are her husband Charles Bernard McCann III, whom she married in 1973; two sons Charles Brian McCann and Michael Timothy (April) McCann; three daughters Kathleen (Frank) Scaturro, Mary Bernadette McCann and Molly Elizabeth (Jan) Yabs; fifteen grandchildren, one great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. 
Mary Lou's family is particularly grateful to all the staff at the Lancia Villa Royale nursing home for their exceptional care and concern. 

Calling hours will be Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A funeral liturgy with Mass will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Fr. Bradley Greer will celebrate. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A vigil service will be Monday at 5 p.m. 
Memorial donations may be made to the St. Peter's Church Restoration Project, 415 N. Fourth St. Steubenville, OH  43952.
