Mary Mich Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Mich, 20, of Downingtown, PA passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026 at St. Agnes Hall, Franciscan University of Steubenville, OH. Mary, along with the love of her life, Luke Reimer, took their last breaths together when they passed away from carbon monoxide poisoning due to an automobile’s malfunction.

Born in West Chester, PA, Mary lived in Downingtown her whole life. She was a junior at Franciscan University majoring in Theology and Catechetics. Mary graduated from Bishop Shanahan High School in Downingtown and went to her local parish’s grade school, St. Joseph in Downingtown. In high school, Mary was in the National Honor Society and was very involved in the BSHS Respect Life Club and Unshaken Bible Study group. She also took 15 years of dance at Oxford Center for Dance, where she won the Dora Kirby Award for helping fellow dance students and teachers. Mary loved children and was a babysitter for various families in her neighborhood and parish. At Franciscan, Mary was a part of the Ecuador Summer, which takes place in Olon, Ecuador. In Ecuador, she lived and worked with the beautiful children at Santa Maria orphanage. Mary thoroughly enjoyed this very meaningful experience, and she planned to return to the Santa Maria foundation of Olon later this year.

Mary had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to joke around with her siblings, parents,  and friends. She often cracked people up by dancing around for them – especially to Shakira’s “Hips Don’t Lie”. In addition to dance, Mary was very creative – often singing, drawing, painting, and even took piano lessons for a short time. She loved music and listened to a wide range of musicians from Bing Crosby to Phil Collins to Lauren Daigle. She enjoyed summer vacations in Ocean City, NJ – thanks to the generosity of her Aunt Mary Ann Burke.

She is predeceased by her miscarried sisters Annie and Esther and her paternal grandparents, Howard and Rita Mich. She is survived by her maternal grandparents, Dave and Ginger Schramm; her parents, Chris and Christy Mich; and her five siblings, Luke, Peter, twin sister Lily, Clare, and Henry. The family would like to thank the family of her boyfriend Luke – Ken and Emma Reimer. Mary and Luke spoke often of marriage and plans for a very large family of their own. The Reimers took Mary into their family and described her in one very fitting word: delightful.

Out of all the things Mary did and enjoyed, her mission in life was always crystal clear: to do God’s will and bring others to Christ.
