MaryAnn Hagerty Obituary

Heaven gained a special woman in MaryAnn (Ruth) Hagerty, 83, of Davenport, Florida, who passed away at home surrounded by her loved ones on December 28, 2021.  To know Mary Ann is to know her contagious laugh, love of bingo, playful antics, and deep devotion to her family.

In 1960, MaryAnn married her spouse of 40 years, James B. Hagerty, of Mingo Junction, Ohio.  A long-time resident of Steubenville, Ohio, she served as a volunteer of both Holy Rosary Catholic grade school and church for many years before the family relocated to central Florida.  There she served as a board member and president of International Bass Lakes Resort HOA for over 10 years.

Preceding her in death were her parents, George and Mary (Franckhauser) Ruth of Steubenville, Ohio, her siblings, Kathleen Mertz (Ray) of Las Vegas Nevada; William (Nancy) Ruth of Henderson, Nevada; and Patricia Mondin of Steubenville, Ohio; her late husband, Jim, who died on September 24, 2002.

Surviving are all of her children: Patrick (Janet) Hagerty of Bradenton, Florida, Brian (Corina) Hagerty of Phoenix, Arizona, Maureen (Ron) Adams of Pasadena, Maryland, Karen Hagerty, of Winter Haven, Florida, Colleen Hagerty, of Davenport, Florida, twin daughters, Marian Thompson of Bradenton, Florida, Marilyn Hagerty, of Davenport, Florida, 16 grand-children and 8 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 8th, from Noon until time of Mass at 1 pm at Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 200 Rosemont Ave, Steubenville. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

At her children’s request, in honor of her childhood home that now serves a mission to the homeless and in honor of the heart that MaryAnn had for others, in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Friendship Room, located at 419 Logan Ave. Steubenville, Ohio 43952 or online at https://www.friendshiproom.net
