Mary Jane Barney

Mary Jane Barney, 84, of Bloomingdale, passed away Friday, December 22, 2023.  She was born July 20, 1939, in Fairplay, OH.  She is the daughter of the late John and Helen (Ferroni) Delatore.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Barney, and sister Diane Cunningham.

Surviving are her children Gene Barney (Karen) of Bloomingdale and daughter Karen Rulong (John Weber) of Indianapolis, IN.  Also, brothers; John (Ruth) of Keller, TX, and Ron (Elise) of Summerfield, FL; grandchildren: Nick Rulong (Dorothy), Amanda Hayden (Jimmy), and Kaylee Rulong.

Jane graduated from Steubenville Catholic Central High School class of 1957, Wheeling Hospital School of Nursing, and West Liberty University with a BSN.  She was employed by St. John Hospital and Trinity Medical Center West for forty-seven years.  

Jane was a Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church member where she served as Liturgical Reader and Extraordinary Minister.  She was a member of the St. Francis Society, Catholic Women’s Club, Funeral “Pots and Pans Choir” and Bingo Kitchen worker.

Calling hours will be held Thursday at 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd. Steubenville. A funeral liturgy with mass will follow at 12:30 pm at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Fr. Michael Gossett, celebrant.
