Maxine Di Palma, 94, of Columbus, died Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus. She was born August 5, 1927 in Follansbee, W. Va., the daughter of the late William and Clara Legg Carte. She is also preceded in death by her brothers, Lee, and Ray, her sister Myrtle (Bud) Smedley and husband Andy.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Maxine retired from the Jefferson County JFS, as a case worker. After retirement she volunteered with numerous organizations including the YWCA. She lived independently in Columbus since 2019.
Surviving are son Andy (Trudy) Di Palma of Columbus, granddaughter Allison (Josh) Whalen and three great grandsons, Max, Jude, and Dane Whalen as well as Charles and Christopher Di Palma of Steubenville and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Friday from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. at Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel. 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A funeral liturgy with mass will then be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church at Noon. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
