Michael Cheslar Obituary

Michael James Cheslar, 46, of Steubenville died Friday December 22, 2023. He was born on Dec 31, 1976 in Medford , OR. Mike is the son of the late John Cheslar and is survived by his mother Edrie Buchler. Mike is in addition to his father also preceded in death by his uncle Joseph Cheslar, and his stepfather Gary Buchler. 

Mike loved growing up on the Umpqua River. He and his brother Dave spent their childhood summers riding bikes and swimming. When he got older, he moved to Southern California and attended college at the Art Institute of San Diego. In 2011, he met the love of his life Jessica and they were married in 2012. They have four children and started their life together in Menifee, CA, then moved to Ohio in the summer of 2022. 

Mike was a kind and loving husband who enjoyed going on dates with Jess. He was a patient and hands-on father. He loved trips to the ocean and lake, building sandcastles with the kids and swimming together. Mike owned his online marketing business where he helped small businesses to grow. He enjoyed watching sports both on TV and in person. His favorite game memory was going to see the Oregon Ducks at the Rose Bowl in 2019.  He loved the Lord very much, and was a parishioner at Holy Family Church.  He came into the Catholic Church on Dec 3rd of this year. 

Surviving in addition to his mother, are his wife Jessica (Nehrbas) Cheslar, four children Lucas, Nicholas, Isaac and Evelyn, his brother David, his wife Nicole (Charron) Cheslar their two children Lars and Sage, and his two sisters Rebecca (Cheslar) Alcantara, and Rachel (Cheslar) Cameron, as well as many in-laws and nieces and nephews on his wife's side of the family who will miss him greatly. 

Calling hours are Thursday 3-6 pm at the Mosti funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd. Steubenville. A funeral liturgy with mass will be celebrated 10 am Friday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Fr. Drake McAllister, celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
