Orlando Vallera Obituary

Orlando Frank “Val” Vallera, 96, of Steubenville passed away surrounded by his children on Wednesday Jan. 19, 2022 at Trinity Hospital.  
Born August 28, 1925 in Pratola Peligna, Italy, he was the son of the late Rocco Vallera, Josephine Giovannucci Vallera and stepmother Anna Farfalla Vallera.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Bianco Vallera, his son Ronald M. Vallera, his sister Mary S. Vallera Petrozzi, his brothers Joseph Vallera, Dino Vallera, and Raymond Vallera.  

He was an honored US Veteran who was a proud member of the First Marine Division. He served in World War II, and the Korean War, and was a recipient of The Purple Heart. He worked as the Tool & Die Manager at Fort Steuben Metal Products in Weirton, WV. He also worked at Ball Corporation, which later became Alpo.  He was the owner/operator of Vallera Services. He was a member of the Tri-State Marine Corp Club, the American Legion, and the Knights of Columbus.  

He was loving husband, father, and grandfather, who enjoyed spending time on or near the water and taking his family on unexpected vacation drives.

Surviving are his children Marianna Vallera Paprocki (Mark), Frank S. Vallera (Susan), and Valerie Vallera Maloney (Thomas). He was blessed by 12 adoring grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Calling hours are 10-12 noon on Monday at Mosti Funeral Home Sunset Chapel 4435 Sunset Blvd. with a Funeral Liturgy Mass at 12:30 PM at Blessed Sacrament Church in Wintersville, Ohio. Internment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
