Otello Anthony (Tonino) Teramana, 93, of Steubenville passed peacefully Monday, September 5, 2022. He was born January 1, 1929 in the Abruzzo region of L'Aquila, Italy. He was the son of the late Gaspare and Zenina (Morgani) Terramani. Otello was also preceded in death by his siblings Angela (Carlo) Carnicella, Velia (Biaggio) Cannone, Ida Deluca, and his granddaughter Marissa Nicole Teramana (infant).
Otello was a vibrant man, dedicated solely to his family. After immigrating from Italy in 1960 at the age of 31, he taught himself to read, write and speak English. He was proud that he educated his four children and even more proud of his grandchildren. He lived the American dream as he retired from Ohio Edison, Sammis Plant in 1991 (62) and enjoyed retirement for more than 30 years. Otello was Roman Catholic and a member of the Italian American Culture Club.
Surviving is his loving wife Evangeline (Vogagis), shy of 60 years of marriage. His four children Otello Teramana Jr., Maria (Michael) Bounos, Christina Teramana, Nicholas (Rosanna) Teramana and 3 grandchildren Ella, Stefania and Zachary. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who reside in Italy and the U.S.
Private Mass was held Thursday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Entombment was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
