Phillip Pergi, 81, of Steubenville went in peace to join the Lord in Heaven on Tuesday August 1, 2023 after a long, valiant battle with cancer.
Phil was born on January 28, 1942, to the late Peter and Maria Pergi in Mingo Junction, Ohio. He is also preceded in death by his sister Angelina (Mayle), and his son Phillip Rocco.
He married the love of his life, Terry (Potenzina), on April 14, 1962 and he was a devoted father to his four children. He was also a loving grandfather and great grandfather.
Phil retired as a crane operator after 42 years of service at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel.
He was a passionate Catholic, who devoted his life to serving others. He spent the last decade supporting Holy Family Catholic Church as a custodian, lector, and Eucharistic Minister. He was a force of character and nature, extremely active, an avid runner in years past, and a regular at the YMCA to the very end.
Phil is survived by his wife Terry, children Peter (Lisa), Tracy, and Brenan (Lisa), along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023 from 2 pm to 5 pm at Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A funeral liturgy with Mass will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Holy Family Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow immediately at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
