To her family and friends, Priscilla Porter Resch was always known for her pleasant personality and quiet demeanor. She was born October 3, 1927, during a severe storm, to Peter and Cecelia Rogers Porter. Her family always felt her quiet nature was a result of that storm. Attending Westminster Presbyterian Church as a child ,with her beloved Welsh grandmother, became a lasting influence in her life.
Priscilla died Friday July 19,2019 following a long struggle with Alzheimer s disease.
She graduated from Steubenville High School in 1946 and married Arthur A. Resch in 1947. While her husband was attending graduate school in New York City, Priscilla did modeling work appearing in Sears and Gimbels Deprtment Stores advertisements. They then moved to and lived in Pittsburgh for several years before returning to Steubenville where she became a homemaker. She was active in Grace Lutheran Church and volunteered for the church in numerous capacities.
She had a lifetime love of dogs and over the years provided a loving home for many stray and neglected dogs. Her fondness for dogs lead to her one time breaking of the law when, as a 9 year old girl walking home from McKinley School, she discovered that the city dog warden had left his truck unlocked filled with stray dogs and she open the door and liberated the canines.
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty nine years, Arthur A Resch. Surviving are two children, Jane (Kevin) Dennis and Arthur L. Resch all of Steubenville and two brothers Lee (Shirley) Porter of Steubenville and Roger Porter of Long Beach California.
