Obituary

Richard “Gub” Davison, 90, of Steubenville passed away, Friday November 19th, 2021 at Valley Hospice surrounded by his family.  Gub was born on October 4th, 1931 in Steubenville.  He is the son of the late Helen and Jacob Davison.  He is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Florence “Flo” Davison. Gub served in the United States Marine Corps earning a Korean Service Medal and a Purple Heart Medal while serving in the Korean War. He attended Mount Union College of Ohio and later completed his education at the College of Steubenville earning a Bachelors Degree in Education. Gub was employed as a teacher and coach at St. Agnes School in Mingo Junction and Harding School in Steubenville. He later finished his career at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel.  He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

Surviving are his two daughters Dawn (Robert) Stierwalt of Maumee, Ohio and Jill (Michael) Duska of Mingo Junction, seven grandchildren Erin (Chase) Patzer of Chicago, Kelly Stierwalt of Maumee, Ohio,  Shawn (Corey) Calhoun of Chicago, Casey Stierwalt of Indianapolis, Elizabeth (Adam) Shoemaker of Palmyra, Pennsylvania, Jake (Devon) Duska of Lancaster, Ohio, and Andrew Duska of Mingo Junction; four great grandchildren Emily Shoemaker, Jack Henry Shoemaker, Davison (Davi) Mae Patzer, and Beau Calhoun.

A funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church at 11:00 on Saturday, January 22, 2022.  The family will receive visitors at 10:00am in the church prior to the funeral mass. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

The family requests in lieu of flowers or for those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to the Jefferson County Humane Society in Gub’s name.
