Richard D. Perkins

Richard (Rick) Dallas Perkins of Steubenville, died Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Trinity West ER. He was born March 13, 1947 in Steubenville. He is preceded in death by his parents Dallas Lloyd Perkins and Marie Ward Perkins, and nephew Mike Perkins.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Dannenhauer Perkins, his daughters, Melissa Perkins (Liz Connors),  Nikki (Jon) Draher, Natalie (Chris) Liptak. He also is survived by 4 grandchildren, Elizabeth and Evan Draher and Maddox and Mason Liptak. He is survived by his siblings, John (Joyce) Perkins and Judi (Jim) Davis, brother and sister -in-law Dan (Arlette) Dannenhauer, nieces and nephews, Grand nieces and nephews and Great-grand niece and nephews.

Rick and Betty were married May 26, 1973 and would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this May.

Rick was a proud graduate of Steubenville High School and belonged to the former Red Club. He was a member of the Polish Athletic Club and enjoyed having a beer with his friends. He relished watching Pittsburgh Sport teams, playing golf especially scrambles with his son-in-laws, going to Tennessee football games with Natalie and all our trips to the beach.

Rick was known for his love of Steubenville. He served as 2nd Ward councilman from 1974-1977, again in 1986-1987 and a third term from 2000-2013. He also served on the city parks and recreation board for 14 years several of them as chairman of the board. He served on the Bicentennial Commission. During his last council term he  was proud of the new water filtration plant, improvements at the raw sewage plant, the new City Building and of course the recent upgrades to the city parks.

Rick worked for WSTV-TV, owned Rick’s Bar and co-owner of Heights, worked for Fort Steuben Dist., then Pittsburgh Brewing Company until retirement. He worked part time for Wine and Beverage until he became ill.

Visitation will be at Mosti Funeral Home, 4435 Sunset Blvd. Steubenville, Ohio 43952 on Monday, April 10th from 1-3 and 5-7. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 11th at 10:00 A.M. at Mosti Funeral Home followed by burial at Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions maybe made to Steubenville High School, Trinity Health System Foundation or charity of choice.
