Richard Anthony Rine, 56, of Steubenville, Ohio, passed away while vacationing in Aruba on April 7, 2026. Born on November 27, 1969, in Steubenville, Rich was a man who lived every single day with purpose, compassion, and an infectious energy that drew people to him wherever he went.
After graduating, Rich earned a degree in Respiratory Therapy and went on to build a remarkable 35-year career at UPMC Magee Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh. He spent the first 25 of those years working in the Neonatal ICU, where his compassion and care for families and their babies was simply unmatchable. The tenderness he showed during some of the most vulnerable moments in people's lives left a lasting impact on countless families. He continued that legacy of care when he transitioned to the Magee adult critical care unit for the last ten years of his career, touching even more lives with his dedication and skill.
For all his professional accomplishments, Rich's proudest moment was the birth of his beautiful daughter, Adrienne. She was the light of his life, Daddy's Girl through and through. Adrienne brought him so much joy, and she expanded that joy by giving him two amazing grandchildren. Rich could not have been more proud of the mother she has become.
Rich and his loving partner, Cindy, have shared 25 wonderful years together. They were inseparable ,and their love for one another was unwavering. They were truly each others one and only-always. He was a loving, supportive partner and the best companion she could have hoped for.
He was always a kind and patient man. He was the first one to jump in and help in any situation. He made an incredible impact on everyone around him. His personality was infectious.
He was also a man who thrived on adventure. Rich was riding dirt bikes from a young age, and that love of two wheels never left him. He had several motorcycles over the years. His true passion was sport touring on his Honda CBR 600RR, traveling to some of the most exhilarating places to ride the best roads. He loved bicycling and hiking with family and coworkers, enjoyed target shooting, and taught himself to reload with the kind of detail-oriented precision that defined everything he did. Honestly, there wasn't anything Rich couldn't do. He raced RC cars for many years, traveling with friends for the indoor racing series, and his latest adventure was outdoor RC racing, where the real draw was the fun, the fresh air, and being part of a great community. Over the years, his many hobbies brought him so many good friends.
~Rich absolutely loved going on vacation, and for the last 20 years, the Caribbean held a special place in his heart. He spent countless hours snorkeling, always looking for the next underwater adventure…
Rich was survived by his partner, Cindy Kay Walker; daughter, Adrienne Richell Rine; his sister, Heidi R. Rine; his brother, Caleb L. West; and his two beloved grandchildren, Viviane Claire and Omari Anthony Bradley. Rich was preceded in death by his mother, Janeth L. West, his maternal grandparents Foster and Ruth Critser. Richs father, Dick Rine (wife Gail) his paternal grandparents the late Elwood “Junior “ and Clara (Mayle) Rine Jr.
Clara and Elwood Rine took a huge role in raising Rich. They shaped him into the amazing man he turned out to be. He could not have been more thankful. Rich will be dearly missed by his extended family and friends.
“It was a beautiful morning. The sun, the blue sky and the turquoise water. My picture shows how happy I was. I was in the most beautiful place doing the thing I loved to do."
