Richard Vizyak Obituary

Richard James "Jim" Vizyak, 73, of Steubenville died Sunday, May 6, 2018 at the VA HJ Heinz Living Center at Aspinwall. He was born March 23, 1945 in Avella, PA. He is the son of the late John and Caroline Tomasco Vizyak. Also preceding him in death are two brothers Johnnie and John "Butch" Vizyak; three sisters Marianne and Caroline Vizyak and Barbara Jean Douty. 

Jim was retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Coke Plant. He also was the owner and operator of Vizyak Landscaping. Richard was a member of the Society of the 1St. Infantry Division (Big Red One). He also liked bicycling, reading, story telling and gardening.   

Jim proudly served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War where he earned two Bronze Stars, Combat Infantry Medal and the National Defense Medal.  

Surviving are his wife Marlene Grygo Vizyak, whom he married November 22, 1969; three brothers Robert (Carole) Vizyak of Beaver Falls, PA, Joseph (Lindy) Vizyak of Westminister, CO and Randy (Margaret) Vizyak of Wauhesha, WI; two nieces Caroline Brooks of FL and Lori Vizyak of PA; two nephews Sean Vizyak of CO and Darren Vizyak of PA. 

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 am at Holy Family Catholic Church, Msgr. Gerald Calovini will celebrate. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, PA.
