Rikk Alessi

Rikk Alessi passed away suddenly doing what he loved, playing golf. Rikk was born in Clarksburg, WV. The second son born to Ken and Eleanor (Shields) Alessi.

His family moved to Steubenville from Yorkville and Rikk embraced being a proud St. Anthony Hawk. He graduated from Steubenville Catholic Central in 1972 and made his mark as one of the best athletes to ever wear the Blue and Gold. He was a fierce competitor and earned 11 Varsity Letters playing football, basketball, and baseball and will always be remembered for clutch performances when the game was on the line. He played on the 1971 AA State Championship Football Team as well as Baseball and Basketball teams that reached the Regionals. He was inducted into the second class of the Catholic Central Hall of Fame. Rikk went on to play three years of basketball and baseball at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington and then graduated from West Virginia University.

Rikk worked as a Site Accountant for Marathon Oil for 30 years. His work took him all over the world. Rikk was always the life of every party he attended and was a friend that you could depend on for support in any manner needed. He enjoyed playing golf, following the Yankees and Steelers, and having a beer with friends. His true love was focusing on being a husband, dad, and Grandpa Rikk. He leaves many wonderful memories behind to cherish for. His wife and best friend Rajia Fahmy-Alessi of Cairo, Egypt, his two son’s Rikk (Megan) of New Rochelle, NY and Anthony (Natalie) of El Paso, Texas, his mother Eleanor and his brother Ken II (Kathy) of Temple, TX, and also his grandchildren Emilia, Benjamin, and Isabel. Rikk was preceded in death by his father Ken Sr. and a brother Terry.

Friends will be received at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Saturday, September 7th, from 12:00 pm until time of Mass at 1:00 p.m., Father Matthew Gossett celebrant.

In lieu of flowers the family requests any donations be made to the Steubenville Catholic Central High School Athletic Dept. at 320 West View Steubenville, Ohio 43952 or the American Cancer Society.
