Robert J. Gajewski

     Robert J. Gajewski, 77, of Steubenville died Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at
UPMC Presbyterian. He was born May 23, 1949 and raised in Jersey City,
NJ. He is the son of the late Joseph and Helen Zawistowski Gajewski. He
is also preceded in death by three brothers Thomas, Joseph and Richard.

      Robert proudly served his country in U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam
War and subsequently worked as a mail carrier for the United States
Post Office. Robert spent the majority of his working years as a Health
and Safety Officer for numerous companies and municipalities across
the country. He tirelessly fought for health and well-being of those
around him, showing a steadfastness of character and commitment to
justice that was unsurpassed. In retirement Robert was affectionately
known on social media as “Chris P. Bacon,” where he endlessly
researched the history of the Steubenville area and passed along his
efforts to the community. Robert is a devout, traditional Roman
Catholic and a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church SSPX in
Pittsburgh’s West End.

     Surviving are his wife Barbara Jablonski Gajewski; four sons Eric of
Steubenville, Scott of Greensburg, PA, Michael and Matthew both of
Pittsburgh; one daughter Kristina Rosser of Steubenville; and brother
John Gajewski of Little Egg Harbor Township, NJ.

     Calling hours will be held Sunday from 1-4 pm at the Mosti Funeral
Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A funeral Mass
will be held Monday at the funeral home at 10 am. Burial will follow at a
later date in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
