Robert ‘Lee’ Porter, 80, of Steubenville passed away Sunday February 21st 2021 unexpectedly at home. Lee was born January 23rd 1941 in Wheeling, West Virginia. He was the son of the late Peter and Cecilia Rogers Porter of Steubenville. In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by his sister Priscilla Resch and her husband Arthur.
Lee graduated from Steubenville high school in 1960 and married his high school sweetheart Shirley. He retired from the city of Steubenville after 31 years of service. He worked in wastewater as a foreman. Lee was also instrumental with others in getting the unions started. He served as president, as well as vice president. Lee was a member of the Two Ridges Presbyterian Church of Wintersville. Lee enjoyed working in his yard taking care of his many cats and animals. He was also known for his love of old cars and he spent a lot of weekends at car shows.
Lee is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Shirley Reynard Porter, his son Robert Lee (Susan) Porter of Pittsburgh , his brother Roger Porter of Long Beach CA his niece Jane Dennis her husband Kevin and nephew Arthur Resch.
Friends may call Friday, February 26 from 12 pm until time of services at 2 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. Reverend Doctor Bill Lawrence will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be directed to the Jefferson County Animal Shelter or to Two Ridges Presbyterian Church.
