Rose Alkire Obituary

Rose L. Alkire, 92, of Steubenville died peacefully on Friday, January 5, 2024 at home surrounded by her family and friends. She was born on July 15,1931 in Broadacre. She is the daughter of the late Giuseppe (Joe) and Maddalena (Scaffidi) Germano. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Lewis Alkire, her sisters Carmela Zinno and Josephine Giannamore, her brother Mike Germano, and son-in-law Mike Peterson.

Rose was a homemaker to her four children and was a member of the former St Pius X Church now Triumph of the Cross. She loved her morning coffee, baking, and going garage sailing where she met many friends. She was well-loved by family and friends who took care of her for many years including Don Blanchard.

She is survived by her children, Karen Alkire of Steubenville; Lisa Peterson of Bloomingdale; Sherri Alkire of Hilliard; and Lewis Alkire of Dayton. Her sister Mary Moore of Steubenville, and brother Frank (Flo) Germano of Mt. Olive, NC, and many nieces and nephews

Calling hours are Tuesday 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd. Steubenville. A funeral liturgy with mass will be celebrated 12:30 pm Tuesday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Fr. Matthew Gossett, celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
