Salvatore (Sam) Lamatrice of Steubenville, died Tuesday July 9, 2024. He was born November 7th, 1937 to Angelo J. Sr. and Margaret (Fornsaglio) Lamatrice.
Salvatore is survived by his wife of 64 years, Judith (Bowman) Lamatrice, brother Angelo Lamatrice, a niece Margaret (Lemsky)(Peter) Defranks, three nephews, Angelo J. (Leanna) Lamatrice III, David M. (Christy) Lamatrice, Joseph A. (Andrea) Lamatrice, three great- nephews, Angelo J. Lamatrice IV, Luca Defranks, Joseph Lamatrice, five great-nieces Sofia Lamatrice, Emilia Lamatrice, Giulia Lamatrice, Stella Lamatrice and Lidia Lamatrice.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters Rose Marie (Lamatrice) Lemsky, Elvira M. Lamatrice and a brother William Lamatrice.
Sam was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the United States Airforce. Upon his honorable discharge, he worked in Weirton Steel as an Electrician and Crane operator until his retirement.
He was a member of Triumph of the Cross Parish, The Knights of Columbus, and the American legion.
Beside his family and Church, Sam loved fishing, boating, scuba diving and traveling.
Calling hours will be held Saturday from 9 am until 11:30 am at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A funeral liturgy with Mass will follow at 12 pm at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Fr. Matt Gossett will celebrate. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
