Samuel Scaffidi

Samuel Scaffidi, of Gioiosa Marea, Sicily, passed away peacefully at home on July 5, 2020. Sam was born on May 12, 1942 and immigrated to this country at the age of 4 with his mother, Maria, brother, Pietro and sister, Henrietta. They settled in Mingo Junction, Ohio.

For most of his adult life, Sam was cared for by the kind and loving staff at the Stanton Home in Smithfield, Ohio where he resided. There, he was surrounded by many friends and companions. He enjoyed playing cards and games with his friends. For many years, Sam was employed at Jeffco Workshop.

Sam is preceded in death by his mother, Maria Scaffidi, his father Nino Scaffidi, both of Gioisa Marea, Siciliy; his brother, Pietro (Lucia) N. Scaffidi and sister Henrietta (William) Simmons formerly of Steubenville, Ohio. 

Surviving are his sister, Eleonora Scaffidi and brother, Annito Scaffidi, both of Gioiosa Marea; his nephews, Nino Scaffidi and Anthony Simmons, his nieces, Renee Bonner, Collette Lucas, Mary Grace Scaffidi and Nella Scaffidi.

The entire Scaffidi family, near and far, are eternally grateful to the Stanton Family and the staff at the Stanton Home for providing Sam with excellent care and a loving home.
