Sophie Sanders

Sophie Sanders, 91, of Steubenville died Friday, August 7, 2020 at Lancia Villa Royale. She was born January 18, 1929 in Steubenville. She is the daughter of the late Elia and Elizabeth Dimitrova Gesheff. She is also preceded in death her husband Richard “Ric” Sanders; infant son Richard; sister Nada Todd and brother Thomas Gesheff.

Sophie was a member of Follansbee United Methodist Church, Red Hat Society, American Legion Post 33 Women’s Auxiliary, the former Fun Seekers and Gadabouts, member and past president for 25 years of the Steubenville Women’s Bowling Association and was is in the Ohio Women’s Bowling Hall of Fame.      

Surviving are her son Mark (Robin) Sanders of Steubenville; one daughter Karen (Tom) Sabol of Marietta; one sister Helen Nicodemus of Follansbee; four grandchildren, Courtney, Carlo, Kelly, and Johnny and one great grandson, Ezra.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4-6 pm (NOT 2-4 pm) at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Masks are required, social distancing will be followed and please do not linger after your visit.
