Susan Fisher Obituary

Susan Carole Fisher, née Hausman, of Mingo Junction, OH, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, at the age of 81. She was born in Weirton, WV, to Harry Hausman and Rose Recht Hausman. She graduated from Weir High School, where she proudly played the French horn in the marching band which was invited to perform at the Rose Bowl.

Susan married Bill Fisher and together they raised two children, Heather and Chad, living in Steubenville, OH, Myrtle Beach, SC, and Mingo Junction, OH. Susan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill. She is survived by her children, Chad (Shara) and Heather (Ryan), her cherished grandchildren, Madelaine and Sam, as well as her sister, Maggie, and her brother John and his family, all of whom will continue to honor her legacy with love and admiration.

A lifelong educator and advocate for learning, Susan earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Cincinnati, followed by a PhD in Instructional Technology from Ohio University. She made significant contributions to the Steubenville City Schools by developing the district’s technology program. Susan went on to teach as an assistant professor at McNeese State University and then Youngstown State, where she was deeply respected by her students and peers alike. Her passion for education never waned, and she was especially thrilled to explore college courses through Ivy League institutions in her later years, finding joy in the pursuit of knowledge.

Beyond her academic pursuits, Susan was a creative soul who spent her free time indulging in arts and crafts, as well as caring for her beloved dogs, who were an ever-present part of her life. She was a compassionate listener and a wise guide, always offering words of encouragement and positivity to those in need. Her brilliance, kindness, and generosity of spirit made her a beloved figure in the lives of everyone who knew her.

Susan’s family and friends will forever cherish her warmth, insight, and the indelible mark she left on their hearts. Her legacy as a teacher, a mentor, and a friend will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.

She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
