Suzanne M. Lewis (April 9, 1966-December 22, 2025)
Suzanne Michelle (Holm) Lewis, 59, of Steubenville, passed away on Monday, Dec. 22, 2025, with her husband Stephen and care-giver Sue at her side.
She was born April 9, 1966, in Taylorville, IL. She is preceded in death by her biological father Michael Deuel, and her mother Judith Holm.
Suzanne grew up overseas, in Hong Kong and Malaysia. She graduated from Langley High School in Mclean, VA, and received a BA from Swarthmore College in 1988. She subsequently earned an MSW at Bryn Mawr College and an MFA in Creative Writing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Early in her married life, Suzanne was a hospital social worker. Ultimately, her calling was education, especially in a person-to-person mode. Suzanne was a passionate teacher, catechizing over a thousand children in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd over a thirty-year period, first in Chicago and then in Steubenville, and she trained many catechists in this method. Suzanne was also a published poet and fiction writer, and founded and edited the literary journal Convivium. At the heart of her life was her love of Jesus, whom she followed ardently through the charism of Fr. Luigi Giussani and the Catholic movement Communion and Liberation. This experience led her in 2016 to found and lead the non-profit cultural organization Revolution of Tenderness, and in 2023 to establish its art and community center, The Studio, in Steubenville.
Many enjoyed her boundless generosity and love, especially her family. Suzanne is survived by her husband of 35 years, Stephen, and their four children, Sophie (Ben), Simone, Serena, and Sylvie, and two grandsons, Joseph and Francis. She is also survived by her father Richard Holm, her sisters Danika (Bruce), Alison (Thomas), Pia (Christopher), her father-in-law Stephen, Sr. and sister-in-law Kimberly, and eleven nieces and nephews. The family thanks her doctors at the Cleveland Clinic, who did so much during the last eight years to help her fight her cancer.
Calling hours will take place at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025, from 1-5pm. Fr. Matthew Gossett will officiate Mass at 10am at Triumph of the Cross Catholic Church on Monday, Dec. 29, and private burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Revolution of Tenderness, 36 Villa Drive, Steubenville, OH 43953. Offer condolences, www.mostifuneralhome.com
