Vanessa L. Drzayich of Steubenville, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Born on February 24, 1954 in Steubenville, Vanessa was the daughter of the late Edmund F. and Alice P. Kaczmarek Szypulski. She was a 1972 graduate of Steubenville Catholic Central and attended classes at Jefferson Technical College. She was a former employee of Ohio Valley Hospital, Borden’s Office Supply, Diamond Specialized, and retired from Kroger.
Vanessa lived a fearless life on her own terms. She was a fun-loving mother of three, Nana of seven, great-grandma of one, sister, and Ciocia to many. She was loyal and has made many life-long friends throughout her vibrant life.
She loved hosting parties, floating the day away in her pool and above all else, loved her family. She enjoyed being on the dance floor, was a social butterfly, and the life of the party.
Vanessa was preceded in death by her parents Edmund and Alice Szypulski, infant brother, John, his twin brother Edmund, brother Raymond.
She leaves behind her three children, Johnny (Christie) Drzayich, Christoper (Carley) Drzayich, Sonja (Adam) Jakubek, grandchildren, Nadja, Noah, Micah and Niko Jakubek, Evelyn Drzayich, Dan (Liv) Persina, Kimberlyn (Justin) Sims, great-grandchild, Brody Sims, sisters, Martina (John) DiBacco, Nan Szypulski-Lewis, Alicia (Joe) Crisante, Denise (Pat) Bennett, Cheryl Snyder, Munya (Rick) Andresen, and one brother, Joe (Kathy) Szypulski and many nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved her deeply.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 6, from 2:00-5:00 PM at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A funeral liturgy with Mass will be held on Monday, April 7 at 10:00 AM at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Burial will be held at a later date in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
