Velma R. Thompson, 93, of Steubenville died Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Gables Care Center. She was born July 1, 1927 in Mingo Jct. She is the daughter of the late Lester and Ruth Bell Danver. Also preceding her in death are her husband John Thompson; brother Warren Danver and sister Donna Kay Kaine.

Velma worked at the former Ohio Ferro Alloy, she was also a bookkeeper for Kay Jewelers and worked at Creegan Company Christmas Corner. She was a member of the former Mingo Methodist Church, Steubenville Women’s Bowling Association and won the doubles championship at the Ohio state bowling tournament.

Surviving are one son Robert (Connie) Moore of Toronto; one daughter Sandra Dee Presley of Steubenville; four grandchildren Robert, Jeremy, Shawn and Kelly; one great grandson Lennon, one great granddaughter, Josie; one step granddaughter Stephanie; two step great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held privately.
