Walter J. Kovaleski

Walter J. Kovaleski 90 of Steubenville, went peacefully to be with the Lord October 14, 2021. he was born June 21, 1931 in Dillonvale to Frank and Sophie Wisnieski Kovaleski.

Walt was retired from the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services where he was an employment counselor.

He was preceded in death by his wife Delores “Doe” Koon , son Randy Blessing, daughter-in-law Joan Blessing, son-in-law Mark Sanders, brothers Joseph and Eddie Kovaleski, sisters Mary Kukura, Stella Nameth Gavorcik, Helen Borkowski and Sister Mary Louise.

He is survived by daughters Nikki (Rob) Winter of Marysville, Robin Sanders, Rebecca (Bob) Herceg, son Rick Blessing all of Steubenville, sister-in-law Millie Kovaleski of Dillonvale. Grandchildren Dylan Winter of Marysville, Carlo Sanders, Courtney (Josh) Leasure, Brandi Herceg all of Steubenville and Justin Herceg of Akron, Melissa (Bill) Hays of Steubenville and Robbie (Loretta) Blessing of Delaware. Great Grandchildren Noah Grace and Ezra Leasure of Steubenville, Caleb, Hannah and Sarah Herceg of Akron, Logan, Avila, Margaret, Max, Joseph, and Peter all of Delaware, Aiden and Austin Hays of Steubenville. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Walter was a member of Triumph of the Cross Catholic Church, formerly Holy Name Cathedral and also sang in the band “Elegants” for many years.

Calling hours are Monday 2-6 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home. Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd. A funereal liturgy with mass will be celebrated, 10 am Tuesday at Holy Rosary Church, Fr. Thomas Nau, celebrant. Burial will follow in Highland Hills Memorial gardens, Follansbee.
