William P. Blancato, Sr., 90, of Steubenville died Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at his home. He was born August 19, 1931 in Steubenville. He is the son of the late Gaetano and Jennie Blancato. Also preceding him in death are his wife Elsie Evans Blancato; first wife Mary Lou Mottiqua Blancato; daughter Roxane Blancato Bruce; sisters Antoinette Mekalik, Mary Ficcuito, Catherine Petrullo and Rose Nepa; brothers Frank Simeraro, Steve Simeraro, Joseph, Anthony “Tony”, Guy Paul Jr. And Ernest Blancato.
William was retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel where he worked in the BOF until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of Triumph of the Cross Parish, the former St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 33. William served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a mechanic on jet engines.
Surviving are three sons William P. Jr. Of Steubenville, Robert A. of Arlington, TX and Mario Bonaventura of CA; three daughters Patricia A. Baker of Steubenville; Mary (Mike) Cloutier of CA and Marla (Joe) Rocky of Steubenville; one brother Richard (Pam) Blancato of Steubenville; one sister Angeline Holbrook of Glenn Burnie, MD; 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held Saturday at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. A funeral liturgy with Mass will follow at 12:00 pm at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
