William J. Schaefer

William Joseph Schaefer, 77, of Wintersville died Thursday, July 30, 2020 at Trinity West Hospital. He was born June 10, 1943 in Steubenville. He is the son of the late Julius and Mary Glaub Schaefer. Preceding him in death is one brother Robert Schaefer.

William was the owner of Atlas Industrial Supply from 1991 to 2015. He attended Ohio University and was a retired Sergeant from the United States Army Reserve, CO, B, 463 ENGR BN. William also was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and Mingo Sportsman Club. He enjoyed spending time with grandchildren, shooting, golfing and fishing.

Surviving are his wife Geraldine “Jeri” Lemsky Schaefer; whom he married April 26, 1969; two sons William (Michelle) Schaefer of Wintersville and Stephen (Becky) Schaefer of Wintersville; one daughter Lorie Ann (Dr.David) Sullivan of Steubenville; one brother Stephen (Susie) Schaefer of Carmel, IN; grandchildren Lauren, Brendan, Matthew, Jonathan Schaefer and Nicole and Sarah Sullivan.

Calling hours will be Monday from 4-7 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 am at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Fr. Michael Gossett will celebrate. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A vigil service will be Monday at 6:45 pm.
