I am so sorry to hear of Delbert's passing. I'd only known him a short time, but I considered him a friend. He was a very sweet man and I will miss seeing him at the poker table. I wish the family peace and comfort during this difficult time.

Jessie and John, and all the Rish family, I am so sorry to hear of Delbert’s death. Our Sunset Garden families have truly had a year of sadness with so many deaths, but having known each other for so many years and having raised our children together, I hope it is some bit of comfort for you to know that so many people are with you in spirit, and all of you are in our thoughts and in our prayers. With love, Liz

Uncle Delbert was someone I deeply respected. If I could have been half the family man he was, I would consider myself blessed. Although I lost touch with him over the years, he was always in my thoughts. He taught me to water ski at Tappan, took me fishing in the Ohio River, took me golfing and supported me as he did with everyone he knew. When I look back and recall all the things he was able to do, it is even more unbelievable. Raise a family, work double shifts, have a huge garden, re-build his house to double size, make wine, coach sports...the list is long. I truly admired him and I loved him.

I am so sorry for the family of Delbert.... I grew up with him when I lived on Labelle... we became friends when he attended SAS.... and after that as well... he always had time to say "hi" when we saw each other. As with many of the kids I grew up with, we always had some type of connection.... even though we went our separate ways, we still had some history.... we are losing too many of our generation. RIP Delbert, you were 'one of the good ones' and our friendship endured even though we went different ways in life. My thoughts are with your family and friends.... take care...

I too grew up with Delbert. We lived at the corner of Oregon and Wilkens and the Rish's lived one block away at Wellesly and Wilkens. Delbert was a great athlete. He was impossible to takle when he played for St. Anthony's .
One summer day, I got a new bike with a mirror and horn. The rain gad stopped but the streets were still wet. Delbert asked if he could try out my new bike. He sped down Wilkens and back, slammed on the brakes and slid out. My mirror cracked and my horn was dented. I thought about kicking his butt, but let him slide since he was a foot taller than me.
