Gaetano "Guy" Almonte

Gaetano S. "Guy" Almonte, 86, of Wintersville, died Wednesday June 22, 2016 at Dixon's Nursing Home. He was born November 2, 1929 in Pettorano, Sul Gizio, Italy. He is the son of the late Luigi and Anna Guglielmi. Guy is also preceded in death by one sister, Bambina Franciosa and an infant grandson, Nicholas Almonte. Guy was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and was retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Mingo 80 inch Plant where he was a mill wright with 44 years of service. Surviving are his wife, Yolanda Fracasso Almonte, whom he married October 25, 1952, three sons, Robert (Leauna) Almonte of Houston, TX, Louis (Carol) Almonte of Wintersville, and Gary (Lorri) Almonte of Ormond Beach, FL, and one daughter, Anna (Thomas) Porter of Wintersville, one sister, Hilda DeStefanis of Wintersville. Eight grand children, Lauren (Mel), Michael (Whitney), Louie, Mandy, Rachele, Alexis, Mitchell, and Andrew. Guy was an avid mall walker and enjoyed wine making and gardening. He was a member of the former Columbus Club and the Gadabouts. He enjoyed attending all of his grand children's sporting events. Calling hours are Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home Sunset Chapel. A funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10 am Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Msgr. Kurt Kemo, Celebrant. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A vigil service will be held on Sunday at 3:45 pm.
