Sorry I couldn't greet you in person - no parking places.
We are very sorry for your loss and you have our prayers and remembrance. I remember Greg when he was an apprentice carpenter working for my Uncle John(Moose) Humienny and when we met at the Senior Swim at Mingo. He always had a smile and something pleasant to say. RIP Greg

To the family. We are very sorry for the loss of this very special person. Mr. Bahen left an impact on all his friends and family. I remember all the good times with his coaching and with all his friends at Timet. Our memories make our lives richer and his really added to the best of times.

June 2, 2017 8:27 AM

My father, Andy Blaner had the greatest respect for your dear husband and father for his devotion to his faith and the Lord as well as his love of family. He thought the world of Mr. Bahen and admired him for his knowledge of sport and as a coach. To my dad, friendship with Mr. Bahen was treasured. Prayers for strength for the entire family. Prayers for blessed repose and eternal memory for Mr. Bahen. (Sorry I was unable to stop for visitation but my sister had surgery and I was with her in the hospital.)

Dear Mrs. Bahen and Coleen,

We were so blest to have been at Mass with you last Saturday.
It was a special meeting before, during and after Mass thinking that I was able to serve at Greg's last Mass, while Coleen and Mary Ellen lectored.
He looked so good, with a smile on his face, and his hand shake still so very firm.

Our deepest regrets that we are unable to be with you at this time due to family emergencies.

Dear Greg was such a long time, faithful and loving servant
of the Lord both to you his immediate family, our church family
and an instituted acolyte as well.
At Holy Name Cathedral he was so very inviting,
when I first came to serve there, showing me all the ins and outs of the parish and special liturgies.

What a blessing it will be when Holy Name Cathedral is restored and Dear Greg will continue to intercede for the Diocese of Steubenville from his Eternal aerial view.

In the Holy Name of Jesus we send our deepest sympathy, love and prayers to the entire Bahen Family, during this 100th anniversary of the Blessed Mother's Apparitions at Fatima, remembering Greg 's last request from us for another copy of the mysteries and meditations of the Holy Rosary, of which he was most faithful as our Blessed Mother's son.

To the Entire Bahen Family I send my deepest condolences. Your father was a great man who influenced many people in his lifetime. He spent his life encouraging and molding lives for the betterment of society. He was a great leader off and on the court/field. May he now and forever coach in the biggest and greatest playing field of life. I have been truly blessed to have known him and walk in his umbrella of love. RIP Sir #blueandgold4ever

To the Bahen Family,
I'm so sorry that I could not be there to cry, laugh and hug you all! As the tears swell-up in my eyes, and I type, I can feel the presence of a fatherly love. There are so many great memories, love, and energy that I want to share but I'll try and keep it simple. (KISS) I pray that your morning process is full of hurt, joy, but most of all HOPE. I emphasize hope because Greg (Mr. not my coach) Bahen has given this world just that in his beautiful family. Though I was blessed with a strong fatherly presence, Coach Bahen will always be the compliment of that role for me. Mr Bahen, thank you for giving this world a true gift of hope in your family; moreover, your son Greg (my coach). Greg and Andrea, my heart is heavy for you in this process, and I pray for healing to come sooner than later. Kenny, I'm thinking of you - my brother from another mother! Joe, your grandfather's spirit lives on in YOU. I see how my son's eyes (Indy) just light up with HOPE and confidence when he talks about you. I know that it is genuine and authentic, because I feel the same way about your DAD. Gregg, I miss you, love you, and thank you for filling all the gaps of insecurity for me. When I think of you, I'm filled with HOPE! I can remember Raymond (Chappanno) and I walking around the pavilion ( we called it the "Walk of Champions") before each game mentally preparing, and we just knew that HOPE manifested Success! I speak for every man and women involved in the 1991 season... We went through walls for you! Time has shown a paradigm shift of thought and life has given us all so many disappointments, challenges, and opportunities that when we talk about things like "the Walk of Champions" it falls on deaf ears. For me the only thing constant and energy that keeps me getting up everyday............its HOPE! Thank God for Gregory P. Bahen being born on June 29, 1929.

We were lucky to grow up in an era when neighbors watched out for other neighbors children. A time where parents not only payed attention to the safety and well being of their own children but also to all the children that made up the neighborhood.

We are fortunate that Mr Bahen was one of the good guys. A parent who believed that he had a responsibility to teach, to educated, to mentor and to watch over all of us who at that moment in time lived the carefree life that childhood afforded us.

Mrs Bahen, Greg, Mark, Colleen, Neil, Tim and Paul we all have so many fond memories and learning experiences from growing up on La Belle and recognize that Mr. Bahen has had a part in those experiences that continue to shape us even today.

May he Rest In Peace.

My sincerest sympathies to the Bahen family. I believe the best mark of a man is not what he achieved in life, but what he allowed others to achieve and what kind of children he raised. In both of these categories, Mr. Grag Bahen Sr. achieved greatness and Christ-likeness. God Bless the Bahen family and may the Holy Spirit fill you with grace and fond remembrances of a Father who lived his faith.
