Michael Hornyak

Michael Hornyak, 79, of Wintersville, OH, entered into heaven on Sunday September 4, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family.  
 He was born at his parent’s home August 5, 1937 to the late Mike and Anna Hornyak in Piney Fork, OH.
 He grew up in the Piney Fork area and graduated from Smithfield High School in 1955.  
 Mike was employed by the Co-Op Company as a grocery delivery boy and then butcher until 1960.   He then moved to the Kroger Company in Steubenville as a butcher and eventual Meat department Manager, where he retired after 39 years of service.
Mike enjoyed polka dancing, motorsports, and spending time with his three grandchildren.  
 He met his loving wife Stella while attending polka dances in the 1950’s and married in 1962. He co-owned sprint cars in the 60’s and was a pit crew member of local late model teams from the 80’s to 2000’s. Pap was bus driver, cheerleader, pit crew, part-time employee and over all loving grandfather for his "buddies" Joel and Jared and "Honey Bunny" Hope.
He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where he volunteered as a part time groundskeeper assisting Sylvester DiGregory.
  Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Anna Hornyak and Sister Ann Hornyak.
  He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Stella (Kaczmarek) Hornyak, daughter, Michelle John of Steubenville, son, Michael (Angel) Hornyak of Columbus, Indiana, three grandchildren, Joel and Jared John and Hope Hornyak, sister, Elizabeth (Hornyak) Fanara of Willoughby Hills, OH and three nieces and three nephews.
 Visitation will be Thursday September 8 from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. at Mosti Funeral Home 4435 Sunset Blvd, Steubenville, OH 43952
 A funeral liturgy with mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday September 9 at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church Msgr Kurt Kemo, celebrant.
 Interment will follow at St Paul’s Cemetery in Weirton, WV.  
Memorial Contributions may be made to Charity Hospice of Wintersville. OH.
