I'm saddened to hear that John died. I only found out yesterday (8/31/17). He was a special gift and blessing to CCHS during his time there. I was privileged to have known and worked with him. I will offer three Masses for the repose of his soul. May God grant peace to the family.

I was very saddened to hear about Coach Nese. In my 4 years at Central, I have many fond memories of Coach. I was fortunate to play basketball and baseball for him. Many life long lessons were packed into those 4 years. He would come pick me up to umpire with him in the summer out in Wintersville. We also played softball together in the Church League. I would not trade those years for anything. May God bless your family through this time. When Coach would write to me in college, his favorite line in each letter was "take 2 and go to right."

Coach Nese made a somewhat good basketball player feel like a GREAT basketball player. I will never ever forget his influence on my last year of basketball. He taught my team more about basketball then we ever thought we needed to learn. RIP. Coach Nese.

Coach Nese's classroom was a place where I felt valued as a student and a person. He brought passion and laughter to his classes. He is one of the reasons I became a social studies teacher. I always hoped I could model his teaching and his treatment of students .What a gift he was to so many!

I'm so sorry for your loss. Me. Nese was my World History teacher at Steubenville Catholic Central. He was amazing as he made history come alive, entertained us and passed this passion on to countless students. He made you feel like he knew you personally and always was happy to see his students in and out of school. It was always exciting to watch him coach basketball and it was sweet to see his two young boys helping with the team. What a wonderful role model! I remember visiting with him during my freshman year at OSU.
He gave me great advice for my career in education. Our loss is Heaven's gain. Christina Longo Stoffer

Always enjoyed chats with Coach while I was a student-athlete at The College of Steubenville. His infectious smile and sense of humor was always welcomed as I got ready for practice with the Barons from 1964-68. We would usually arrive at St.John's arena as his Catholic Central team finished up.
God Bless and rest his soul and blessings and strength to his family.
