Joseph A. Scalise, Jr., 68, of Steubenville died Saturday May 14, 2016 at his home. He was born September 10, 1947 in Steubenville. He is the son Lillian Cefalo Scalise of Wintersville and the late Joseph A. Scalise, Sr. Also preceding him in death is one sister Marlene Call. Joe was a loving family man and a friend to all.

Joseph had a great sense of humor and loved to sing karaoke. He was passionate about his community and his country.  As a member on the board of the Fair Housing Committee he believed in standing up for the people in the community and protected their rights as tenants. Joe was a published political writer and an advocate for the working class. He was very opinionated, yet he always preferred respectful debate to get others to see his point of view.  He held a Bachelors of Science in Mediation and Conflict Management. Joe is retired from Wheeling downs Casino as a Tables Games Supervisor and also served in the Army during the Vietnam War.

Surviving are one son Joseph Scalise of Cleveland; one daughter Leza (Tracy Spencer) Scalise of Bethel Park, PA; one brother Raymond Scalise of Wintersville; one sister Linda Scalise of Latrobe, PA and one grandson Canaan.

A celebration of life will take place Saturday May 28, 2016 from 6 to 10 pm at the Spot Bar, 217 S 4th St., Steubenville, OH 43952.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Charity Hospice, 500 Luray Dr., Wintersville, OH 43953.
